Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a diligent and dedicated Kettle Operator for a food production manufacturer in Baltimore City, Maryland. This is a temp-to-hire position offering a supportive work environment and a consistent work schedule. As a Kettle Operator, the individual will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of kettles in the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure that the kettles are prepared and ready for cooking.
  • Properly inspect ingredients and add them to the kettles following established methods and formulas.
  • Effectively manage time to ensure efficient kettle operation for effective production flow throughout the entire shift.
  • Monitor the quality of the product through visual inspection and operation of kettles and measuring devices.
  • Fill the batch pans with cooked candy from the kettles and store the pans on designated racks.
  • Measure ingredients using liquid measurements, dry measurements, weights, and counting.
  • Input and read data from a computer screen to create candy.
  • Read an analog clock for time tracking of product creation.
  • Clean any overflow from pans and ensure cleanliness of machines and work area throughout the day.
  • Clean machines and workstation properly at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure personal cleanliness of hands and body prior to handling raw ingredients and food products.
  • Work individually, as a team, and with a dedicated partner.
  • Adhere to company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SQF, and safe food procedures.
  • Write production records legibly, accurately, and completely.
  • Communicate respectfully with other employees and management to complete work tasks.
  • Ability to work additional hours if needed.
  • Other tasks or duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to individually lift up to 50lbs and lift with a partner up to 100lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and transport racks and carts on wheels of up to 2700 lbs. with another person.
  • Ability to constantly stand/walk throughout the entire work shift.
  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, reach, twist, and climb stairs regularly throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Must have visual acuity to see the machine from a close range and distance, and to read the programming screens and production records.
  • Ability to handle ingredients, including allergens such as Milk, Soy, and Wheat.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including hearing protection, aprons, safety glasses, gloves, hairnets, and safety toe shoes.
  • Maintain a safety-first mentality in order to work in the plant.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and presentable appearance, including clean uniforms.
  • Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and SQF regulatory program requirements.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM; occasinal Saturdays 6am-noon.

Benefits

Competitive hourly pay of $18 per hour.

Additional Details

Background and drug screen required. Maximum and minimum pay is set at $18 per hour.
